IFS Certification Policy
IFS certifies components of IFS Applications for use with platform hardware/software, including operating systems, databases, and application servers. The list of certified hardware/software is referred to as a “certified platform”. The IFS Support Offering only applies when IFS Applications is used on a certified platform.IFS Certification Policy
For each version of IFS Applications, IFS defines the combinations of other products and product versions that constitute the certified platform.
IFS will certify new versions of products in the certified platform for use with IFS Applications as defined in “Currently certified IFS Applications Platforms”. New product versions are certified for the latest version of IFS Applications and, at the discretion of IFS, for previous versions. See the specific details below.
When a vendor/supplier of a product in a certified platform discontinues support for a particular product version, IFS certification of that product version becomes invalid.
In the event that IFS certification becomes invalid, a customer may be required to apply a service pack, and/or upgrade IFS Applications and/or platform components to return to a certified platform.

Oracleversions
New major Oracle Database versions are normally certified in the nextIFS Applications core release.
TheIFS R&D certification forum will decide if and when a new major Oracle database version should be certified.
IFS does notsupport IFS Applications running on uncertified Oracle major database versions.
Example of major Oracle Database versions are:
Oracle 10g R2(10.2.0.1), Oracle 10gR1 (10.1.0.2) ,Oracle 9i release 2 (9.2.0.1), Oracle 9i release 1 (9.0.1.0),Oracle 8i release 3 (8.1.7.0)
Impact: If a new major Oracle Database version is released it will most likelybe supported in the next major IFS Applications core release.
New Oracle Database Patch sets are certified as soon as possible afterthey have been released from Oracle.
If not stated otherwise, IFSsupports IFSApplications running on an IFS supported major Oracle Database version with a newpatch set.
IFS recommends that customers do not apply a patch set until it hasbeen certified for use with IFS Applications.
Example ofOracle Database Patch sets are: Oracle 10g (10.1.0.3) ,Oracle 9i release 2 (9.2.0.5), Oracle 9i release 1 (9.0.1.4),Oracle 8i release 3 (8.1.7.4)
New Oracle database single patches are never certified. If not statedotherwise, IFS supports IFS Applications running on an IFS supported majorOracle Database version with single patches applied. IFS recommendsthatsingle patches are used with care and only applied if they areabsolutely necessary.
New Oracle Critical Patch updates are never certified. If not statedotherwise, IFS supports IFS Applications running on an IFS supported majorOracle Database version with critical patch updates. IFS Extended Server and IFS Web Client
New major Unix based Operating System (OS) versions/hardware (HW)platforms are normally certified in the next IFS Applications core release.The IFS R&D certification forum will decide if and when a new major OS version/HWplatform should be certified. IFS does not support IFS Applications running on uncertified OS/HW platforms.
Example of major Unix OS/HW platforms are: IBM Aix 5.2/powerpc, HP Hp-ux 11i/parisc, RedHat AS 2.1/x86, Sun Solaris 9/sparc, HP Tru64/alpha, etc. IFS has focused on thefollowing Unix vendors: IBM, HP, Sun and RedHat

3rd Party Application Servers

TheApplication Server is certified with the current patch level at certificationtime. IFS does notsupport IFS Applications running on uncertified 3rd Party Application Server versions.
Example of major 3rd Party Application Server versions are: Oracle 10g AS , IBMWebSphere 5.1 and 5.0 etc.
New 3rd Party Application Server patches/service packs/hot fixes arenot certified. The 3rd Party Application Server vendor is responsible for thatthese patches/service packs/hot fixes released function properly.
Example of major 3rd Party Application Server versions are: IBM WebSphere 5.1 fix pack 1, etc

New major Windows basedOperating System (OS) versions/hardware (HW)platforms are normally certified for the currently supported IFSApplications releases as soon as possible. The IFS R&D certification forum will decide if and when a new major Windows Client OS version/HW platformshould be certified. IFS does not support IFS Applications running on uncertified Windows Client OS/HW platforms.
Example of Windows Client OS/HW platforms are:Windows XP professional/x86,Windows 2000 Professional, Windows NT4 Workstation, Windows 98 SE.
New Windows Service Packs (SP) are certified as soon as possible afterthey have been released from Microsoft. If not stated otherwise, IFS supports IFSApplications running on an IFS supported Windows OS with the new SPfrom Microsoft. IFS recommends that customers do not apply the SP until it hasbeen certified for use with IFS Applications.
New Windows hot fixes are never certified. If not stated otherwise, IFS supports IFSApplications running on an IFS supported Windows OS with the new hot fix released byMicrosoft. IFS recommends that these hot fixes are used with care and that theyare tested by a customer before applying them toall PC.

IFS Web Client Operation System
New Microsoft Internet Explorer Web Browser versions are normally certified for thecurrently supported IFS Applications releases as soon as possible. The IFS R&Dcertification forum will decide if and when a new major Windows Server OS version/HW platformshould be certified. IFS does not support IFS Applications running on uncertifiedInternet Explorer Web Browsers.
Example of Web Browsers are: Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0, Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5.
New Microsoft Internet Explorer Web Browser Service Packs (SP) arecertified as soon as possible after they have been released from Microsoft. Ifnot stated otherwise, IFS supports IFSApplications running on an IFS supported Web Browser with the new SP fromMicrosoft. IFS recommends that customers do not apply the SP until it hasbeen certified for use with IFS Applications.
New Microsoft Internet Explorer Web Browser hot fixes are never certified. Ifnot stated otherwise, IFS supports IFSApplications running on an IFS supported Web Browser withnew hot fix released by Microsoft. IFS recommendsthat these hot fixes are used with care and that they are tested by a customerbefore applying them to all PC.
Other new Web Browser versions are normally certified in the next IFSApplications core release. The IFS R&D certification forum will decide if and when a new major Web Browsershould be certified. IFS does not support IFS Applications running on uncertified Web Browsers
Example of Other Web Browsers are:Netscape 7.1, Mozilla.

Terminal Servers
New major Windows Terminal Server Operating System (OS) versions/hardware (HW)platforms are normally certified in the next IFS Applications core release. TheIFS R&D certification forum will decide if and when a new major Windows Terminal Server OS version/HW platformshould be certified. IFS does not support running IFS Applications on uncertified Windows terminal Server OS/HW platforms.
Example of major Windows Server OS/HW platforms are:Windows 2003 TerminalServer/x86,Windows 2003 terminal Server/itanium, Windows 2000 Terminal Server/x86 etc.
New Windows Service Packs (SP) are certified as soon as possible afterthey have been released from Microsoft. If not stated otherwise, IFS supports IFSApplications running on a system with the new SPfrom Microsoft. IFS does not support IFS Applications running on uncertified Citrix Windows terminal Server OS/HW platforms.
Example of major Citrix Windows Server OS/HW platforms are:CitrixMetaframe XP on Windows 2003 Terminal Server/x86,Citrix Metaframe XP on Windows 2003 terminal Server/itanium, Citrix Metaframe XPon Windows 2000 Terminal Server/x86 etc.
New Citrix Service Releases (SR) are not certified. Citrix areresponsible for that the SR are compatible with each other.
New Citrix hot fixes are never certified. Citrix are responsible forthat they work in a correct manner.

3rd Party LDAP ServerN
ew major 3rd Party LDAP Server versions are normally certified in the nextIFS Applications core release. The IFS R&D certification forum will decide if andwhen a new major 3rd Party LDAP version should be certified. IFS does notsupport running IFS Applications together with uncertified 3rd Party LDAP versions.

Virtualization Software
If running IFS Applications on virtualization software (VMWare, XEN, Hyper-Wetc.) customers should be aware that IFS certification of various platforms isdone on physical servers only. When running components of IFS Applications onvirtual servers support is provided in the following manner.
If a problem arises and it is a known IFS Applications issue, IFS will recommendan appropriate solution. If that solution does not work, the customer mustcontact the VM software Vendor's support for further help. If the problem isdetermined to be an unknown IFS Applications issue when running on a VM, the issue must be reproduced on a physical system by thecustomer or VM vendor support before IFS will try and solve the problem. All issues whichare determined to be VM specific will be referred back to the customer, whoshould contact VM vendor support.
In addition all policies for Virtualization stated by Oracle also Apply forthe IFS Application database. Oracle generally do not support nor recommend theOracle RDBMS database server to be virtualized in a production environment.

New major 2Conciliate Modeling Tools versions are normally certifiedin the next IFS Applications core release or on the latest Service Pack of thecurrently supported IFS Application releases.The IFS R&D DocumentationManager and the IFS Product Director decide when and if a new version should besupported.IFS does notsupport using the IFS Applications Process Models on uncertified 2ConciliateModeling Tool major versions.

The IFS R&D Documentation Managerand the IFS Product Director decide when and if a new version should besupported. IFS does notsupport IFS Applications Process Running on uncertified 2Conciliate ModelingToolsub-versions.
Example of major 2Conciliate Modeling Tool versions are: 2.9, 2.5
